2012 Spring/Summer Wrap Sweater Colors

Here they are. The spring colors for one of our best selling pieces, the wrap sweater.  We will be ordering mid march for our next delivery.  Please go to our website and special order yours before they are gone for the season.

Never purchased one?   There are more than seven ways to wear these sweaters and they are machine wash and dry!  Personally, I have seven of them.  My clients and I leave one in our car for over conditioned air in restaurants, travel, the office or a simple piece to toss into a tote bag for a coverup.  So fabulous.  I am getting another one!

Barbie Figure

I just read an article in Yahoo news.  “Ioana Spangenberg claims she has a natural 20-inch waist. When you see her thin middle in contrast to her 32-inch hips, it’s no wonder tabloids like The Sun are referring to Spangenberg as “the human hourglass.” The 30-year-old weighs in at around 84 pounds.”  Apparently she tries to gain weight and cannot.  I take her word for it.

The photo on the left and it’s story outrages me.  “Ethel Granger had the smallest waist of any woman ever, but it was not necessarily by choice. Her husband, astronomer William Arnold Granger, was tired of his wife’s shapeless 1920s dresses and requested that wear corsets and more figure-flattering garments. According to Vogue Italia, he thought, “if she can outshine other members of her sex in some way, this is a victory worth any amount of suffering.” Granger eventually convinced his wife to wear corsets every day, and even while sleeping. Slowly her waist transformed from 24-inches to the insanely tiny size of 13 inches-the smallest waist ever recorded by The Guinness Book of Records.”  I believe and hope from the bottom of my heart that modern men find this appalling. William Grangers quote sickens me.  I wonder what he looked like?

While I am not an advocate of obesity, Ioana’s body literally looks like a Barbie doll. Ethyl’s body looks like a character out of the movie, Mars Attacks. These womens bodies are the rare exception of a human actually having a body shaped like Barbie.  Ladies, please don’t try this at home.

Are We That Desperate for Celebrity News?

Joan Rivers and her entourage have a good thing going.  They add fun with insulting, yet accurate remarks after Hollywood awards ceremonies when celebrities show off designer gowns and tuxedos.

Now everyone has an opinion.  Today’s OMG “What Were They Thinking” on Yahoo, sounds like Yahoo OMG just needs something new to write to keep up the hype.  I understand, you need to write about something. But if you you are going to write about fashion, have taste, experience and be accurate. Click on this link and you will see what I mean.

http://omg.yahoo.com/photos/what-were-they-thinking-01-26-1327622449-slideshow/selena-gomez-photo-1327622413.html

Here is how I think most of the comments are inaccurate.

Selena Gomez – is young and cute.  So lay off about her hair colorings.  Seriously, she looks adorable and it is age and career appropriate!

Paris Hilton – what is tacky about faux fur?  Her outfit is well put together. Maybe you don’t understand why she was invited, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t look stylish.  Paris, I love your outfit.

Katharine McPhee -   I like how the bow mimics her v-neck. Black and white a little different than we are used to.  But hey this is what fashion is about and she is tall and can handle this dress.  Very pretty.

Helena Christensen – I would wear this!  A perfect example of patterns on patterns that work. Maybe a scarf, hat or chunky necklace in the same color blue as the stockings would improve the look.

Star Jones – Again a remark about fur.  Um, writer who doesn’t even acknowledge who they are, fur is still very HOT.  Perhaps if you had some experience with fashion, you would comment on how out of date pantyhose are.  I would have put chocolate shoes with this dress, the beige is dowdy like the hose.  Sorry Star.

Drew Barrymore- I wish more people had the courage to wear more prints. Again, people it IS career appropriate.  The “fashion writer” should be able to visualize how this dress would look away from the backdrop.  Plus it fits her nicely.

Jessica Alba.  She did the floral pants right.  Remember the 80′s?  Pants were baggy.  Most 80′s comebacks are done better than the first time around. And thank goodness for the new fashion rule.  Wear what looks good on your body!  These slim pants are worn correctly with solids.  Kudos to Jessica  The print is fun and she maximized the best of it with fun solid colors. Bring on summer.

Bald Barbie

Today I saw a story on Yahoo news about the discussion of a bald Barbie to support cancer.  I am all for it. Cancer has hit home to me with friends and family and that is why I chose Gilda’s Club of SE Wisconsin to be the recipient of 5% of our sales at our Trunk Show on March 9th at The Hamilton. For details, go to http://www.bvenboutique.com/events.

Bald is beautiful!  Why can’t society accept a women who is bald instead of forcing her to wear a scarf, hat or wig? Here’s the story. http://news.yahoo.com/cancer-hit-women-lobbied-bald-barbie-210037079.html

The Best Booty Look For Your Denim

Quite often I get questioned on how to wear denim.  Comments like, “Pockets make my butt look too big” or ..”pockets make me look flat.”  One thing that I am sure you will read in future blogs are these “fashion rules” for decades have been leading women down the wrong path. The rules are, there are no rules.

Today’s woman has a selection of different options.  Unlike the 90′s and before, women are learning that what is in style is what looks best on your body, or in this case your bottom.  No more is there only one width at the ankle.  Our options range from the skinny, slim, boot, bell and so on. But today lets talk about the behind.

The worst thing that has happened in the past for plus size women is NOT offering a pocket!  When you have a “ma

ss of ass” you want to cut up the design with lines, which pockets do wonders for.  That way your butt doesn’t look too big. It’s the same concept of a shorter woman wearing the same color head to toe…it gives the illusion of being a little taller.  But more about that later.

On the flip side, if you want you booty to show, bring it girl!  Just be careful of where the pockets hit.  If the pocket is too small, it may make your booty look even bigger and out of proportion.

What about no booty?  If you are slender and have more of a flatter bottom, pick a pair of denim that hug you under your behind as to give the illusion of a lift.  There are butt lifting underwear out there too! If you den

r “no-butt” look.im have pockets, make sure that the pockets aren’t too big where they tend to drop underneath your behind. That can emphasize you
